The Life + Celebration Concert Ball will take place on June 6, 2017 and will feature some of opera and classical music’s greatest stars.

Among those on the docket are Sumi Jo, René Pape, Angela Denoke, Linda Watson, Daniela Fally, Andrea Carè, Julia Novikova, Alma Deutscher, Bo Skovhus, Pumeza Matshikiza, Charles Castronovo, Ekaterina Siurina, Yury Revich, Sunnyi Melles, Maria Happel, Karl Markovics, Yvonneka Kálmán, the Tonkünstler-Orchester, and conductor Alfred Eschwé.

According to the official website, the concert will feature works by Erich Korngold, Alexander von Zemlinsky, Emmerich Kálmán and Kurt Weill with a highlight on the period of the 1920 and 1930s.

Life Ball is considered one of the world’s largest AIDS charity events. Since 1993, it has sought to celebrate not only life, but to create a forum for respect and tolerance.

“We have a special pleasure with international opera stars at the LIFE + CELEBRATION CONCERT in the venerable Viennese Burgtheater, reflecting the cultural diversity and openness that we live and experience in our daily work,” stated Frank Druschel, Managing Director of the Tonkünstler-Orchester, on the official website. “It is a great opportunity for us to demonstrate solidarity, attentiveness, and responsibility for the community in a quasi-playful way, to help shape the artistic environment of the Life Ball as a vital life symbol for a tolerant, colorful and open-minded Austria. Because there is no alternative to coexistence. Neither in music nor in the fight against AIDS.”
