The Portland Opera will present Mozart’s “Così fan tutte” in a brand new interpretation by director Roy Rallo. The performance is slated to open on July 14, 2017, with subsequent performances slated for the 16th, 20th, 22nd, 26th, and 29th.

“Mozart’s ‘Così fan tutte’ is a deeply insightful look at relationships. His understanding of the human heart, and his ability to communicate that through music, is a profound aspect of Mozart’s genius,” said Christopher Mattaliano the General Director of Portland Opera.

Rallo previously directed “The Rake’s Progress” in 2015 and is slated to team up with video designer Paul Clay, who will make his Portland Opera debut in the production, which will including projections that use 3-D, renderings nad photography.

The cast will include Portland Opera resident artists Kate Farrar and Antonia Tamer as Dorabella and Fiordiligi, respectively, while baritone Ryan Thorn plays Guglielmo and tenor Aaron Short takes on Ferrando. Daniel Mobbs is Don Alfonso while Mary Dunleavy sings Despina. Nicholas Fox conducts the run which will include information sessions before every performance as well as Q&A sessions with the cast and members of the creative team after every performance. There will also be a free simulcast of the July 26 performance on SW Main Street.
