Macbeth

The first coming out in the next few months is Verdi’s “Macbeth” with Domingo and Ekaterina Semenchuk. The DVD will be released by Sony Classical and comes from the LA Opera. Filmed in the fall, the production was directed by Darko Tresnjak and also starred Ildebrando D’Arcangelo and Joshua Guerrero.

When the production opened Domingo garnered rave reviews and critics said, “He commands the stage and the music he sings. His incomparable experience provides him with a quality on stage that younger singers cannot hope to match. He was genuinely impressive.” About Semenchuck they said, “Every phrase sounded exquisitely calculated.”

Werther

As for Flórez’s selection, the tenor will be featured in Massenet’s “Werther.” The tenor announced via social media that his latest run of the tragedy will be released on DVD. The tenor recently performed the role at the Zürich Opera House where he garnered rave reviews and sang alongside Anna Stéphany as Charlotte under the baton of Cornelius Meister.

When Florez sang the role on stage in Bologna, the tenor garnered rave reviews and also encored his public. The Teatro Comunale documented the encore.

While there is no release date set, audiences have something new to look out for Florez.
