PBS will showcase the Live in HD broadcast of “Cendrillon” from the Metropolitan Opera as part of its Great Performances Series on Sunday, Sept. 9, 2018.

The broadcast will kick off at 12 p.m. EDT and features Joyce DiDonato, Alice Coote, Kathleen Kim, Stephanie Blythe, and Laurent Naouri in the Massenet adaptation of “Cinderella.” The Live in HD broadcast was hosted by soprano Ailyn Pérez and features Bertrand de Billy conducting Laurent Pelly’s beloved production. This was the last production of the opera interpreted by Joyce DiDonato, as she announced that she would no longer perform the role in the foreseeable future.

Of the production, OperaWire’s review noted, “It was a magical evening through and through and the general laughter suggested that Pelly and the exquisite cast succeeded in immersing the audience fully into the story.”

This is the latest in a season-long series that will still showcase transmissions of the Met’s Live in HD season. PBS is set to start up in 2019 with broadcasts from the 2018-19 season which include such operas as “Aida,” “Samson et Dalila,” “Marnie,” and La Traviata,” among many others.
