PBS will showcase the Live in HD broadcast of “Samson et Dalila” from the Metropolitan Opera as part of its Great Performances Series on Sunday, March 24, 2019.

The broadcast will kick off at 12 p.m. EDT and features tenor Roberto Alagna and Mezzo-soprano Elina Garanca in the title roles. Other cast members include Laurent Naouri, Elchin Azizov, and Dmitry Belosselskiy. The work is conducted by Sir Mark Elder and features mezzo Susan Graham as the host.

The production was directed by Darko Tresnjak.

Of the initial performance of the run, OperaWire’s review praised the work of the Met Opera Chorus, noting that “The Met chorus always seems to be in a world of its own. A good one, that is.”

Next up on the PBS Great Performances showcases from the Metropolitan Opera will be “La Traviata,” “Adriana Lecouvreur,” “La Fille du Régiment,” “Carmen,” “Die Walküre,” and “Dialogues des Carmélites” follow thereafter.
