By Francisco Salazar

On Sept. 1, 2018, the Pacific Opera Project will return to the newly renovated Ford Theatre for a fully staged production of Bizet’s “Carmen.”

The performance, which will be held for one night only for an audience of 1200, will be directed and designed by Artistic Director Josh Shaw.

The opera will be conducted by Music Director Michael Powers, choreographed by Amy Lawrence, and costumed by Maggie Green and is set to star Nora Graham-Smith in the title role. She will be joined by Dane Suarez as Don José, Babatunde Akinboboye as Escamillo, and Aubrey Scarr as Micaela.

The POP season will also include performances of Verdi’s “La Traviata” with The Occidental College Glee Club at Occidental College’s Thorne Hall and POP’s signature modern take on Puccini’s “La Bohème” AKA “The Hipsters” at The Highland Park Ebell Club.
