Pacific Opera Project to Livestream Rossini’s “La Gazzetta”

By Logan Martell

The Pacific Opera Project will be bringing their final performance of Rossini’s “La Gazzetta” to viewers around the world via livestream on July 7, 2018

One of Rossini’s lesser-known operas, “La Gazzetta” follows a Neapolitan father who takes out an advertisement for his daughter, in the hopes that he can find her a worthy, or at least wealthy, suitor. As one can expect from a bel canto comedy, there will be no shortage of stage hijinks and vocal virtuosity.

The cast of this production includes Scott Levin as Don Pomponio, Rachel Policar as Lisetta, Armando Contreras as Filipo, Kyle Patterson as Alberto, Molly Clementz at Doralice, Jessie Shulman as Madama La Rose, Scott Ziemann as Monsu Traversen, and Phil Meyer as Anselmo. Music director of the production, being only the second in all of North America, is Brooke DeRosa, who has arranged a new orchestral reduction. Josh Shaw directs the production.

Inspired by the “Live from Lincoln Center” streams, Pacific Opera Project’s livestream will include interviews with the cast and crew, hosted by Andreas Kraemer of POPeracast. Viewers can tune into POP’s Facebook page on July 7, 2018, at 8:00 pm PST, to see the performance on their computer or mobile device.
