Pablo Heras-Casado and Alex Olle Host Facebook Live for Wagner’s ‘Der Fliegende Hollander’ at the Teatro Real

On Dec. 7 Pablo Heras-Casado and Alex Olle will be live on Facebook to answer questions about the upcoming production of Wagner’s “Der Fliegende Hollander” at the Teatro Real de Madrid.

Heras-Casado and Olle will talk about Wagner’s early work and what audiences should expect from the new production. They will also answer questions from audience members asked on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

Heras-Casado will be conducting an international cast of singers that include Evgeny Nikitin and Samuel Youn as the Dutchman and Ingela Brimberg and Ricarda Merbeth as Senta. Nikolai Schukoff and Benjamin Bruns will also share the role of Erik. 

Heras-Casado is recognized as one of the most influential conductors of his time. He has performed with every major orchestra and opera houses including the Berlin Staatsoper and the Metropolitan Opera. He is scheduled to make appearances at Carnegie Hall this year and will also appear at the Grand Theatre de Provence.

Olle is one of the world’s most famous opera directors currently working in the business. He is one of the six artistic directors of La Fura dels Baus, one of the most innovative and prestigious theatre companies on the international scene. Olle’s work includes productions of  Wagner’s “Tristan und Isolde,” Verdi’s “Il Trovatore” and Gounod’s “Faust” with the Teatro Real. He recently directed the opening night production of Bellini’s “Norma” at the Royal Opera House with Sonya Yoncheva in the lead role and Sir Antonio Pappano conducting.

The Teatro Real is the latest opera company to utilize Facebook live as a way to engage its audiences and give them inside looks at the works currently being performed. The Metropolitan Opera recently began its series featuring Patricia Racette, Piotr Beczala and Anna Netrebko.
