Meryl Streep has been nominated for her 20th Academy Award.

The announcement, made on Jan. 24, signaled the Academy of Motion Arts and Sciences’ appreciation for her work in “Florence Foster Jenkins.” With the nomination Streep extended her own record to 20 nominations, the most by an actress in the history of the Academy Awards.

Streep will compete against a distinguished group of actresses which include Natalie Portman for “Jackie,” Isabelle Huppert for “Elle,” Ruth Negga for “Loving” and Emma Stone for “La La Land.”

The film was also nominated for Best Costume Design for Consolata Boyle’s unique wardrobe. However, the movie failed to score a nomination for Hugh Grant’s performance as Jenkin’s husband.

Streep previously scored nominations at the BAFTA, Golden Globes and SAG awards for her performance in the film. She also won a Critics Choice award for Best Comedy Actress.

“Florence Foster Jenkins” was directed by Stephen Frears and features rising star Aida Garifullina in the role of Lily Pons. Garifullina recorded the Bell Song for a recital scene and it is available on the soundtrack for the film. The movie tells the story of a New York heiress who dreamed of becoming an opera singer, despite having a terrible singing voice. The heiress recorded an album that today has never been out of print and can be heard on Youtube.
