Operavision 2018-19: ‘Die Tote Stadt’ Arrives At Komische Oper Berlin

Opera Vision will start streaming a production of Korngold’s “Die tote Stadt” live from the Komische Oper Berlin on Sept. 30, 2018.

Korngold’s famed opera will showcase Ales Briscein as Paul, Sara Jakubiak as Marietta and Marie’s Apparition, Günter Papendell as Frank and Fritz, and Maria Fiselier as Brigitta, among others. The performance will feature a production directed by Robert Carsen with music director Ainars Rubikis at the helm.

The stream kicks off at 7 p.m. local time. That’s around 2 p.m. EDT and 11 a.m. PST for the start time. It will be available for repeat viewings on Opera Vision until March 29, 2019.

The streaming service is free through OperaVision, which, per its official website, is a project “supported by the European Union’s Creative Europe program, OperaVision builds on the success of The Opera Platform, with more contributing opera companies from more countries, under the editorial supervision of Opera Europa, the European association of opera companies and festivals. Next up on the slate of live streams will be “Sanatorio Express.”
