Opera Omaha Begins its 24 Hour Fundraiser Omaha Gives!

By Francisco Salazar

Opera Omaha has begun its yearly Omaha Gives! donations drive.

Omaha Gives! is the company’s year-round platform for community-giving that benefits metro-area nonprofits. Donations start at just $10 and you can give to your favorite organization any time of the year.

The fundraising campaign will only last through May 24, 2017.

Opera Omaha is one of the most respected regional companies in the U.S as it produces a season of original productions and musical events throughout the community and is internationally known for nine world premiere operas and four American premieres of classical masterpieces.

In order to make opera more accessible, the company has created programs including  Opera Outdoors, which is an annual free concert at Turner Park in Midtown Crossing, and National Opera Week, a nationwide effort led by Opera America. Other programs include Midday Music and Lecture series.

The company is gearing up to perform “Stranger from Paradise,” a world premiere opera and co-production of Opera Omaha and the Great Plains Theatre Conference.
