Opera National Bordeaux To Feature Elina Garanca, Sonya Yoncheva & Benjamin Bernheim in 2017-18 Season

The Opera National Bordeaux has announced its 2017-18 season with a number of important stars headlining the year.

The season starts off with Offenbach’s “La Vie Parisienne” on Sept. 23, 2017. The production by Vincent Huguet is set to star Anne-Catherine Gillet and Philippe Talbot. Marc Minkowski conducts.

Paul Daniel leads a concert performance of Bellini’s “Il Pirata” with Joyce El-Khoury and Rene Barbera. Audiences will get only once chance to see it on Nov. 6, 2017.

Chiara Skerath and Stanislas de Barbeyrac lead the cast of Debussy’s “Pélleas et Mélisande.” Minkowski leads the new production by Philippe Beziat and Florent Siaud. The production begins on Jan. 19, 2018 with one additional performance.

Minkowski leads “Marouf,” a comic opera which begins on Feb. 7, 2018 and runs through the 14th.

On April 3, 2018, La Fenice’s production of Donizetti’s “Lucia di Lammermoor” premieres with Georgia Jarman in the title role. Pierre Dumoussaud conducts a cast that also includes Julien Behr and Florian Sempey. The opera runs through April 11, 2018.

On May 14, 2018, “Pinocchio” makes its premiere at the theater conducted by Paul Daniel. The opera runs for four performances.

Strauss’ “Elektra” concludes the season on May 23, 2018, with Dame Felicity Palmer leading the cast. Ingela Brimberg stars in the title role while Mary Adeline-Henry stars as Chrysothemis.

In addition to the main repertory, Sarah Connelly will be featured in Mahler’s Symphony No. 3 and Maria Bengtsson will perform Alban Berg’s Sieben Fruhe Lieder. Christopher Purves will also be featured. Meanwhile, Elina Garanca, Beatrice Uria-Monzon, Benjamin Bernheim, Sonya Yoncheva, Anne Sofie Von Otter, Stephane Degout and Magdalena Kozena will perform recitals.

The company will also present Rossini’s “Petite Messe” and Mozart’s “Requiem” as well as Bach’s “Le Consolation.”
