Opéra de Reims Announces 2020-21 Season

The Opéra de Reims in France has announced its 2020-21 season.

For the purposes of this article, we will only focus on opera productions.

The first production of the season will be Offenbach’s “Monsieur Choufleuri restera chez lui” starring Aurélien Gasse, Pauline Texier, Enguerrand de Hys, Valentine Martinez, and Marie Bénédicte Souquet. Yann Molénat conducts.

Performance Dates: Nov. 13 & 14, 2020

Alhima Mhamdi sings the title role in Bizet’s “Carmen.” The production, by Paul-Émile Fourny, also stars Thomas Bettinger, Christian Helemer, and Ludivine Gombert. Cyril Englebert conducts. 

Performance Dates: Jan. 15 & 17, 2020

Chantal Santon Jeffery, Romain Bockler, Daphné Touchais, and Anna Wall star in Purcell’s “Didon et Énée.” Johannes Pramsohler conducts the production by Benoît Benichou.

Performance Dates: Feb. 18 & 19, 2021

Castelnovo-Tedesco’s “Aucassin et Nicolette” will be presented in one night.

Performance Date: April 2, 2021

Erminie Blondel, Raffaele Abete, and Simone del Savio star in Verdi’s “La Traviata.”

Performance Dates: March 23 & 25, 2021
