Olga Peretyatko, Ben Bernheim, Paolo Fanale to Headline Opera de Lausanne’s 2017-18 Season

The Opera de Lausanne has announced its 2017-18 Season with multiple new productions and many of opera’s biggest stars.

The season opens with Donizetti’s “Lucia di Lammermoor” starring Lenneke Ruiten in the title role alongside Benjamin Bernheim in a new production by Stefano Poda. Jesus Lopez Cobos conducts the opening night.

In November Hervé Klopfenstein leads Menotti’s “Amahl and the Night Visitors” in a new production by Gérard Demierre. The students from the Lausanne Conservatory will take on the role of Amahl while Marina Viotti, Aurélien Reymond, Joël Terrin and Joé Bertili round out the cast.

Cyril Diederich leads a new production by Emilio Sagi of Francis Lopez’s operetta “Le Chanteur de Mexico.” The cast will be lead by renown actress Rosy De Palma and will be presented in December.

Olga Peretyatko will lead the cast in a semi-staged version of Bellini’s “La Sonnambula” and Giampaolo Bisanti will conduct the two performances in February.

Paolo Fanale leads an international cast in Mozart’s “La Clemenza di Tito.”  Salome Jicia stars as Vittelia while Yuriy Mynenko is Sesto in a new production by Fabio Ceresa. The opera will be performed in March and will be conducted by Diego Fasolis.

April will bring Rossini’s “La Donna del Lago” in a new production by Max Emanuel Cencic. It will be sung by Lena Belkina in the title role and  Max Emanuel Cencic as Malcolm.

The final production of the season will be Verdi’s “Simon Boccanegra” with Roberto Frontali in the title role. Andrea Mastroni and Maria Katzarava round out the cast which will be conducted by Stefano Ranzani.
