On Wednesday, August 16 the NY Choral (New York Choral Society) continues its Summer Sings Open Readings of beloved choral masterworks. This time it will present Mendelssohn’s “Elijah,” a beloved masterwork.

The reading will feature Conductor Michael Ciavaglia with a distinguished cast of soloists. Hannah Spierman will take on the soprano role while Michael Kuhn will take on the tenor part with Nathanial Sullivan as the baritone.

Spierman returns to the NY CHORAL Sings after dazzling with her performance last year in Brahms’ “Ein Deutsches Requiem” and Beethoven’s “Mass in C.” Spierman has appeared with numerous opera companies including the Bronx Opera, Opera Company of Brooklyn, Amore Opera, and the New Jersey Oratorio Society.

Kuhn has performed with the Florida Grand Opera and the Princeton Festival. Among the diverse roles, he has taken on include Eisenstein in “Die Fledermaus” and Mr. Erlanson in Sondheim’s “A Little Night Music.”

Sullivan recently appeared as Papageno in “Die Zauberflöte,” the Count in “Le Nozze di Figaro,” Sid in “Albert Herring,” and the role of Martin in the world premiere of Mary Zimmerman’s reimagining of Bernstein’s “Candide.” He has performed with the Lincoln Symphony Orchestra, the Bard Conservatory Orchestra and Chorus, and the Orchestra Now with which he performs this fall.

NY CHORAL Sings has been going on since 1960 and allows audiences to participate in a reading of some of the most popular choral pieces.
