Nashville Opera has announced its 2017-18 season.

The season kicks off on Oct. 5 and 7 with Puccini’s “Tosca” at Jackson Hall. John Hoomes will lead the production team, directing the piece. Dean Williamson will lead the Nashville Opera Orchestra. Jennifer Rowley, who recently made headlines at the Metropolitan Opera in “Cyrano de Bergerac,” will star in the title role.

In November, audiences will get a chance to see Astor Piazzolla’s “Maria de Buenos Aires.” The opera will be showcased on November 10, 11 and 12 at the Noah Liff Opera Center.

Patrick Morganelli’s “Hercules vs. Vampires” will get a showcase on Jan. 27, 2018 at the TPAC Hall. Hoomes will direct this production while Kelly Corcoran conducts. The opera, which is an adaptation of Mario Bava’s 1961 cult movie will be directed by Hoomes, with Williamson in the pit. The movie will be projected while the opera is sung by live singers.

Carlisle Floyd’s “Susannah” closes out the season with performances at the Polk Theater between April 6 and 8. Hoomes and Williamson will team up for this work as well.
