Nadine Sierra, Mariella Devia & Jessica Pratt Highlight Teatro La Fenice 2017-18 Season

The Teatro la Fenice has announced its 2017-18 season with numerous stars and a plethora of classic works.

It all begins on Nov. 24, 2017 with Verdi’s “Un Ballo in Maschera” starring  Francesco Meli, Kristin Lewis, and Vladimir Stoyanov.

Verdi’s “La Traviata” follows on Dec. 6, 2017 withMihaela Marcu and Claudia Pavone sharing the lead role.  Nadine Sierra will her role debut as Violetta in a later run of the production.

On Jan. 19, 2018 Spontini’s “Le Metamorfosi di Pasquale” will open with four performances to follow.

Lehar’s “The Merry Widow” will also be presented starting on Feb. 2, 2018 followed by Rossini’s “Il Barbiere di Siviglia” on Feb. 3, 2018.

Francesco Bellotto directs a new production of Albinoni’s “Zenobia, Regina de’ Palmireni” opening on Feb. 22, 2018.

Selene Zanetti and Vittoria Yeo share the title role of Puccini’s “La Bohème” opening on March 16, 2018.

On April 6, 2018, Yeo will take on the iconic role of Puccini’s “Madama Butterfly” while Vivaldi’s “Orlando Furioso” opens on April 13, 2018.

The company will also present Donizetti’s “L’elisir d’Amore’ on April 20, 2018, with  Irina Dubrovskaya starring as Adina and  Carlo Lepore as Dulcamara.

On April 27, 2018, Rossini’s “Il Signor Bruschino” will also be reprised while Mariella Devia stars as “Norma” in a production by Kara Walker. Stefan Pop and Carmela Remigio also star in a production that opens on May 13, 2018, conducted by Riccardo Frizza.

On May 15, 2018, Piccinni’s “Il Regno della Luna” will open while Battistelli’s “Richard III” will bow on June 29, 2018.

La Fenice concludes its season with Rossini’s “Semiramide” starring Jessica Pratt and Alex Esposito. The production begins on Oct. 19, 2018.
