Michael Fabiano To Open Royal Opera House 2017-18 Season, Announces Met Opera Role in 2018-19

Michael Fabiano will open the Royal Opera House’s 2017-18 Season.

Even though the season has yet to be announced, the New York Times revealed the news in an interview chronicling Fabiano’s rise to fame. However, the newspaper did not indicate which opera Fabiano would be performing.

The interview also revealed that Fabiano would be reviving a rumored production of Verdi’s “I Lombardi” at the Metropolitan Opera in the 2018-19 season. Fabiano has already performed the work in concert and received rave reviews for his work in the early Verdi opera.

The American tenor has been making headlines for the past few years singing in every major theater. He recently made his role debuts in Verdi’s “Don Carlo” and Donizetti’s “Poliuto.”

He is currently scheduled to make his role debut as Don Jose in Bizet’s “Carmen at the Festival de Aix en Provence. He is also scheduled to sing the role of Rodolfo in Puccini’s “La Bohème” and Edgardo in Donizetti’s “Lucia di Lammermoor” in the 2017-18 Season at the Metropolitan Opera. He is currently performing Alfredo in Verdi’s “La Traviata” at the met with Sonya Yoncheva and Thomas Hampson and the March 11 performance is scheduled to be Live in Cinemas around the world.
