Having a hard time catching the explosive chemistry between superstars Vittorio Grigolo and Diana Damrau at the Metropolitan Opera in this year’s “Roméo et Juliette?” You can catch them in cinemas this weekend anywhere in the world on Saturday, Jan. 21., 2017

As part of the Met’s Live in HD series, the company will showcase the third-to-last performance of this run which has garnered accolades for the Italian tenor and German soprano. OperaWire raved about the two noting that “there can be no denying that the best moments for both singers came when they were onstage together, their vocal and emotional bond truly immersive… The chemistry that Damrau and Grigolo engender is too contagious to ignore and that makes this ‘Romeo et Juliette’ a truly thrilling and, at times, sexy experience.”

The opera is based on the Shakespearean classic and features a new production directed by Met mainstay Bartlett Sher.

The broadcast kicks off at 12:55 p.m. with a full running time of about three hours. There is one intermission.

This is the fifth opera in this season’s series. The first showcase of Live in HD in 2016-17 was Wagner’s “Tristan und Isolde” which was followed up by Mozart’s “Don Giovanni,” Saariaho’s “L’Amour de Loin” and Verdi’s “Nabucco.”
