UPDATE: Marina Rebeka Will Not Replace Sonya Yoncheva At Savonlinna Opera Festival

Update: Marina Rebeka will not replace Sonya Yoncheva.

Per the soprano: Dear Friends, there is information going around that I’ll be replacing @sonyayoncheva at #SavonlinnaOperaFestival on July 18. I’d like to clarify that at that time I’ll be in rehearsals for #SimonBoccanegra at @SbgFestival, and therefore my participation in the gala is not true.

Sonya Yoncheva has pulled out of an opera gala that will be presented by the Teatro alla Scala at the Savonlinna Opera Festival in Finland on July 18, 2019.

As a result, soprano Marina Rebeka will replace Yoncheva at the opera gala.

She will join tenor Giorgio Berrugi, legendary baritone Leo Nucci and bass Ferruccio Furlanetto. The orchestra and chorus of Teatro alla Scala will be directed by Michele Mariotti.

Rebeka recently triumphed at Teatro alla Scala in the role of Violetta in Verdi’s “La Traviata” and recently recorded the opera for her record label Prima Classic.

Yoncheva recently confirmed that she is expecting her second child next Fall with conductor Domingo Hindoyan. She is currently in Paris for “Tosca.”

Details of the Savonlinna Opera Festival program were published earlier in this article.
