Marina Rebeka has announced that she will not perform the March 28 performance of Donizetti’s “Maria Stuarda” at the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma.

The soprano, who is currently in rehearsals for her stage role debut, announced on Twitter that “due to miscommunication with the theater” she would be performing the originally scheduled performance. As a result, Roberta Mantegna will sing the title role for that date.

“Maria Stuarda” is scheduled to open on March 22 with Rebeka in the title role, Carmela Remigio as Elisabetta, and Paolo Fanale as Roberto.

The opera will be conducted by Paolo Arrivabeni and will be directed by Andrea de Rosa.

Marina Rebeka recently made her role debut in a concert performance of “Maria Stuarda” with the Latvian National Opera. She also performed her signature role of Violetta in Verdi’s “La Traviata” at the Palau de les Arts in Valencia. She is set to return to the Metropolitan Opera for Donna Elvira in Mozart’s “Don Giovanni” in the spring.

I am sorry to inform you that due to miscommunication with the theater I will not be singing the performance of Maria Stuarda on March 28.
