Mariella Devia’s ‘Lucrezia Borgia’ Live Stream Incoming From Valencia

Opera fans around the world will get a chance to see Mariella Devia sing the title role in Donizetti’s “Lucrezia Borgia” on April 1, 2017. The broadcast starts at 7 p.m. local time.

The performance, which takes place at the Palau de les Arts in Valencia, will be broadcast via Opera Platform. The opera will remain available for viewers on the platform until Sept. 30, 2017.

Aside from Devia, the cast includes William Davenport, Marko Mimica, Silvia Tro Santafé and Fabian Lara among others.

The Opera Platform is the online destination for the promotion and enjoyment of opera and is designed to appeal equally to those who already love opera and to those who may be tempted to try it for the first time. It showcases one opera per month and includes subtitles in 6 different languages. The platform has showcased works from the Vienna State Opera, La Monnaie, The Royal Opera, Teatro Regio di Torino and Festival d’Aix-en-Provence.

“Lucrezia Borgia” was first performed on Dec. 26, 1833 at La Scala in Milan. The opera has become a major vehicle for such sopranos as Leyla Gencer, Beverly Sills, Joan Sutherland, Montserrat Caballé, Edita Gruberová, Renee Fleming and Devia. Devia recorded the opera in 2010.
