Sony Pictures Classics has announced that the documentary “Maria By Callas” will be featured in the Spotlight on Documentary section of the 56th New York Film Festival.

The news comes a few weeks after it was announced that the film directed by Tom Volf would be presented at the Toronto International Film festival for its North American premiere.

Per the documentary’s logline, “Maria by Callas” gives fresh insights into one of the great talents of the 20th century via recently rediscovered writings and interviews with the Greek-American soprano.

The New York Film festival runs from Sept. 28 to Oct. 14, 2018. Sony Pictures Classics picked up North American rights to “Maria by Callas” and is expected to release the film on Oct. 26, 2018.
