Lyric Opera of Chicago To Host Outdoor Opening Concert

The Lyric Opera of Chicago will launch its new season with the 17th annual Stars of Lyric Opera at Millennium Park concert.

The concert, which is scheduled to take place at the Jay Pritzker Pavilion on Friday, Sept. 8, at 7:30 pm, will be a free performance, showcasing highlights from the new season.

Sir Andrew Davis will lead the Lyric Opera Orchestra and Chorus with soloists including J’Nai Bridges, Janai Brugger, Andriana Chuchman, Anthony Clark Evans, Dmitry Korchak, Emmett O’Hanlon, Eric Owens, Matthew Polenzani, and Lauren Snouffer.

The program features excerpts from Mozart’s “The Marriage Of Figaro,” Verdi’s “Rigoletto,” Puccini’s “Turandot,” Gounod’s “Faust,” Bellini’s “I Puritani,” Gluck’s “Orphée et Eurydice,” Donizetti’s “Don Pasquale,” Massenet’s “Werther,” Bizet’s “The Pearl Fishers,” and Wagner’s “Die Walküre.”

The concert will be aired live on 98.7WFMT and wfmt.com.

The Lyric Opera of Chicago will open on Sept. 23, 2017 with Gluck’s “Orphee et Eurydice.”
