Ludovic Tézier Among Highlights of 2017-18 Opera de Lille Season

Opera Lille has announced its 2017-18 season, which will feature five operas, among a number of other major events.

The opera season kicks off on Sept. 30, 2017, with Mozart’s “Così fan tutte,” starring Ruzan Mantashyan, Virginie Verrez, Jaël Azzaretti, Anicio Zorzi Giustiniani, Alessio Arduini, and Nicolas Rivenq. The production, which will be directed by Christophe Honoré, will run for a total of six performances, the final one on October 12, 2017.

Next up is Zemlinsky’s “Le Nain,” which runs for three performances on Nov. 16, 18, and 20. Performing will be Mathias Vidal, Jennifer Courcier, Julie Robard-Gendre, and Christian Helmer, among others.

Violeta Cruz’s “La Princesse légère” opens on Dec. 13, 2017, with additional performances on the 15th and 16th. The cast includes Magali Arnault Stanczak, Majdouline Zerari, Nicholas Merryweather, and Jean-Jacques L’Anthoën.

Next up is Offenbach’s “Le Roi Carotte” which runs from Feb. 1, 2018, through 13 for a total of five performances. Héloïse Mas, Yann Beuron, Christophe Mortagne, Christophe Gay, Boris Grappe, Chloé Briot, Albane Carrère, and Lydie Pruvot lead the cast.

As part of its efforts to produce child-friendly operas, the company will showcase Arthur Lavandier’s “La Légende du Roi Dragon” on March 17 and 18, 2018.

The opera season closes with Verdi’s “Nabucco,” which will run for a whopping eight performances starting on May 16, 2018, and ending on June 6, 2018. The performance on May 26 will be screened live in movie theaters. Nikoloz Lagvilava takes on the title role with Mary Elizabeth Williams, Simon Lim, Robert Watson and Victoria Yarovaya rounding out the cast.

Additionally, famed baritone Ludovic Tézier will perform a concert on Nov. 28, 2017, alongside Cassandre Berthon, as will the Choeur de l’Opéra de Lille on June 9, 2018. There will also be a Voix Nouvelles 2018 final concert on Nov. 29, 2017.
