Lisette Oropesa is set to make her Teatro alla Scala debut.

The soprano announced via social media that she will make her debut in a new production of Verdi’s “I Masnadieri.”

In a statement the soprano said, “It is with immense gratitude that I write this post today. I am so happy to announce my debut this season, as Amalia in Verdi’s ‘I Masnadieri’ at the crown jewel of the operatic world, Teatro alla Scala. I have dreamed of singing in this theatre for years, and to have the opportunity to be a part of a new production of an opera by the great maestro Verdi, is not only a dream come true, but a blessing beyond measure.”

Oropesa sang the opera five years ago with the Washington Concert Opera and has since performed such Verdi works as “La Traviata” and “Rigoletto” to great acclaim.

The soprano joins a cast that includes Michele Pertusi, Fabio Sartori, and Massimo Cavalletti. Michele Mariotti conducts a new production by Sir. David McVicar.

The new production opens June 18, 2019.
