Lisette Oropesa, Patricia Racette & Poul Ruders Headline Santa Fe Opera’s 2019 Season

The Santa Fe Opera has announced its 2019 season. While the 2018 season has yet to begin, the upcoming 2019 edition will showcase five productions, including one new world premiere. Here is a look

Productions 

Vanessa Vasquez and Mario Chang lead Puccini’s “La Bohème” with a stellar cast that also includes Kirsten Mackinnon and Zachary Nelson. Jader Bignamini conducts the production by Mary Birnbaum.

Performance Dates: June 28-August 24, 2019

Lisette Oropesa leads the cast in Bizet’s “The Pearl Fishers” with Ilker Arcayurek in his Santa Fe debut and Anthony Clark Evans. Shawna Lucey directs the 2012 production with Timothy Myer conducting.

Performance Dates: June 29-August 23, 2019

Amanda Majeski, Ben Bliss, Emily D’Angelo, Jarrett Ott, Rebecca Evans, and Rod Gilroy lead the ensemble cast in Mozart’s “Così fan tutte” with Music Director Harry Bicket and director R.B. Schlather helming a new production.

Performance Dates: July 13-August 22, 2019

Johannes Debus conducts David Alden’s English National Opera staging of Janacek’s “Jenufa” with Laura Wilde in the title role. Patricia Racette sings the Kostelnicka and Suzanne Mentzer is the Grandmother. Alexander Lewis and Richard Smagur round out the cast.

Performance Dates: July 20-August 15, 2019

Poul Ruders takes his fifth opera “The Thirteenth Child” to Santa Fe Opera marking the company’s 16th world premiere. Paul Daniel conducts the new opera, which is set to be directed by Darko Tresnjak, The cast includes Kirsten Mackinnon, Tamara Mumford, Joshua Dennis, Bradley Garvin, and David Leigh.

Performance Dates: July 27-August 21, 2019

Concerts

The season will also include an evening with Renée Fleming performing Letter from Georgia and Apprentice Showcase Scenes.
