The Brussels-Capital Region in Belgium has ordered the cancelation of all cultural events from Oct. 26 to Nov. 19 due to the spiking COVID-19 cases.

As a result, La Monnaie du Munt has canceled all its performances from Oct. 26 until Nov. 22 when performances of Mozart’s “Der Schauspieldirektor” are set to begin.

The company announced that it will contact all affected customers as soon as possible and that the performance of “Die tote Stadt” on Sunday, Oct. 25th will still take place.

The measures come after Belgium recorded a record number of new COVID-19 cases with 15,432. Brussels has become the epicenter of infections in Belgium and the country will once again make masks mandatory in public spaces. The region will also limit gatherings of up to four people and has set a curfew.
