Juan Diego Flórez Cancels ‘Rigoletto’ in Vienna

Juan Diego Flórez has canceled his performances of “Rigoletto” at the Wiener Staatsoper.

The tenor announced is cancelation on Instagram noting “With great regret, I have to cancel my two upcoming performances of Rigoletto at the Wiener Staatsoper. Following my doctor’s orders, I need to rest my voice in order to recover from a tracheitis. I’m sorry for the inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your understanding.”

Flórez was set to perform on June 7 and 10 with Aida Garifullina, with the June 7 performance slated for a Live Stream.

The Wiener Staatsoper has yet to announce a replacement but Flórez will return to the stage for the World Cup gala on June 13 and for “Il Viaggio a Reims” in Vienna. He is also slated to the Rossini Opera Festival this summer for a “Ricciardo e Zoraide.”
