Juan Diego Flórez Cancels New Year’s Concert

By David Salazar

Juan Diego Flórez has canceled his New Year’s concert in Budapest scheduled for Dec. 30, 2017 with Müpa.

Because he made his cancellation on such short notice, the entire event has been canceled.

The tenor is coming off a Christmas concert on Dec. 20, 2017, which paired him with Sir Antonio Pappano and the Orchestra of Santa Cecilia. The concert was streamed on Medici.tv.

Flórez kicks things off quickly in January when he heads to Monte Carlo for his role debut as Hoffmann in “Les Contes d’Hoffmann.” He then heads over to the Teatro alla Scala before stopping over at the Bayerische Staatsoper in April and May for “Lucrezia Borgia” and “Lucia di Lammermoor.”

Flórez isn’t the only high profile cancellation of the season. Famed tenor Jonas Kaufmann just did the same thing over in Moscow.
