Joyce DiDonato has announced on social media that the first preview track to her upcoming album, “Into the Fire,” has been released via Apple Music and Spotify.

The new track entitled  “Shakuntala” comes from Jake Heggie’s song cycle “Camille Claudel: Into the Fire,” which is part of the album. The album, which will be released on Sept. 7, 2018, captures DiDonato’s live performance at London’s Wigmore Hall joined by the Brentano Quartet. The album also includes works by Claude Debussy and Richard Strauss.

Of the recording, DiDonato says: “Jake is not only a brilliant composer but he has also been a dear friend for many years. This new recording is truly one of most moving projects I’ve ever been part of and I hope you will enjoy it.”

This is the second recording DiDonato announces in the past month. Her upcoming studio album “Songplay” is set for release in February.
