Jonas Kaufmann to be featured on NDR Talk Show

By Francisco Salazar

After months of cancellations, Jonas Kaufmann will make an appearance on television for a special interview with TV host Barbara Schöneberger and Hubertus Meyer-Burckhard.

The German tenor will be featured on Dec. 16 as a guest of NDR Talk show and will be featured alongside Heike Makatsch, Oliver Berben, Ferdinand von Schirach, Alexander Herrmann, Victoria Swarovski, Jörg Knör, Elena Timpe and Samuel Koch.

The announcement was made yesterday on his website and it marks his first public appearance since his win at the Echo-Klassik awards earlier this fall.

The tenor has been absent from the stage for three months after suffering side effects from a medication that caused him to go on vocal rest. Kaufmann is one of the world’s leading tenors and he is scheduled to make his return to the stage for a production of Wagner’s “Lohengrin” alongside Rene Pape in January. He is also slated to sing a new production of Verdi’s “Otello” alongside Maria Agresta and will be conducted by Antonio Pappano at the Royal Opera House. He will also perform in a new production of Giordano’s “Andrea Chenier” with Anja Harteros at the Bayerische Staatsoper.

Kaufmann is also slated to take up a residency at the Barbican in London and will perform a series of concerts with works by Strauss and Wagner. He will also reprise his acclaimed role as Cavaradossi in Puccini’s “Tosca” alongside Angela Gheorghiu at the Vienna State Opera.

The talk show will be broadcast live on NDR (Norddeutscher Rundfunk TV) starting at 10pm/4pm est on Friday night.
