Jonas Kaufmann, Anna Netrebko & Renée Fleming Headline Star-Studded Carnegie Hall 2018-19 Season

Carnegie Hall announced its 2018-19 season featuring some of the world’s greatest singers and musicians. To stick with opera, we will only be highlighting the singers who will be featured in the season.

Orchestras 

Mezzo-soprano Lucile Richardot will be featured with the Orchestre Révolutionnaire et Romantique under the direction of Sir John Eliot Gardiner in an all-Berlioz program. The program will feature selections from “Les Troyens.”

Performance Date: Oct. 14, 2018

Tenor Michael Spyres joins Sir John Eliot Gardiner and the Orchestre Révolutionnaire et Romantique for all-Berlioz program. He will be featured in Lélio and the program will also include the Symphonie fantastique.

Performance Date: Oct. 15, 2018

Christiane Karg and Elisabeth Kulman perform Mahler’s Symphony No. 2 “Resurrection” with the Czech Philharmonic under the direction of Semyon Bychov. The Prague Philharmonic Choir will also be featured in the concert.

Performance Date: Oct. 28, 2018

Joyce DiDonato joins the Philadelphia Orchestra alongside Yannick Nézet-Séguin in a program that includes Wagner’s Prelude to “Lohengrin,” the New York Premiere of Mason Bate’s Anthology of Fantastic Zoology, Chausson’s “Poème de l’ amour et de la mer,” and Respighi’s “Fountains of Rome.”

Performance Date: Nov. 13, 2018

Renée Fleming joins the Boston Symphony Orchestra and Andris Nelsons in all Strauss program featuring the Sextet, Moonlight Music, and Final Scene from “Capriccio.” It will also feature “Also sprach Zarathustra.”

Performance Date: March 19, 2019

Iván Fischer will conduct the Budapest Festival Orchestra in Bartok’s one-act opera “Bluebeard’s Castle” featuring Mezzo-soprano Ildikó Komlósi and bass Krisztián Cser. Vocalist Márta Sebestyén will also be featured in Traditional Hungarian music.

Performance Date: April 6, 2019

Harry Bicket continues his tradition leading the English Concert in a concert performance of a Handel work. This year Handel’s “Semele” will be the elected work. The cast includes Brenda Rae (Semele), Elizabeth DeShong (Juno/Ino), Soloman Howard (Cadmus/Somnus), Benjamin Hulett (Jupiter), Christopher Lowrey (Athamas) and
Ailish Tynan (Iris).

Performance Date: April 14, 2019

Lydia Teuscher, Iestyn Davies, Robin Tritschler, and Matthew Brook will be featured in Bach’s Mass in B Minor under the direction of Bernard Labadie and Les Violons du Roy.

Performance Date: May 7, 2019

Verdi’s rare masterpiece “I Vespri Sicilianni” makes a concert appearance with Gianandrea Noseda conducting the Teatro Regio di Torino. Angela Meade leads a cast that also includes Piero Pretti, Luca Salsi and Michele Pertusi.

Performance Date: May 19, 2019

The Met Orchestra

The Metropolitan Opera orchestra continues its Carnegie Hall tradition by being featured in three concerts.

Valery Gergiev conducts pianist Daniil Trifonov in Schumann’s Piano Concerto and also leads the orchestra in Schubert’s Symphony No.9 “The Great.”

Performance Date: May 18, 2018

The orchestra will also perform a program that has yet to be announced. No conductor or soloist has been announced either.

Performance Date: June 3, 2019

For the final program, Elīna Garanča and  Yannick Nézet-Séguin join forces for Mahler’s Rückert Lieder. The program also includes Bruckner Symphony No.7.

Performance Date: June 14, 2019

Vocals 

Jonas Kaufman returns to Carnegie Hall joined by the Orchestra of St. Luke’s with conductor Jochen Rieder. The program will include operetta and popular songs in honor of Richard Tauber.

Elīna Garanča will also return in a recital with Malcolm Martineau. Program to be announced. 
Performance Date: Oct. 23, 2018 
Juan Diego Flórez and pianist Vincenzo Scalera, join forces for a program will undoubtedly be filled with vocal fireworks.

Anna Netrebko makes her belated recital debut alongside Malcolm Martineau. Program to be announced. 
Performance Date: Dec. 09, 2018
Other recitals will include Paul Appleby on Oct. 26, 2018, Matthew Polenzani on  Feb. 24, 2019, Iestyn Davies on  May 16, 2019. Leah Crocetto will also be featured in recital on Nov. 08, 2018 as well as J’Nai Bridges on Dec. 13, 2018, and Sabine Devieilhe on Jan. 17, 2019. Joélle Harvey rounds out the vocal recitals on Feb. 13, 2019.
