Des Moines Metro Opera has announced a concert and reception featuring internationally acclaimed countertenor John Holiday.

The concert, which is set for Sunday, April 8, will feature an eclectic mix of opera, jazz, and gospel selections and will be held at the sanctuary at Plymouth Church in Des Moines.

Holiday will be joined by Scott Arens, DMMO’s director of marketing and public relations, at the piano for the performance.

Holiday is one of opera’s brightest rising stars as he is the 2017 recipient of the prestigious Marian Anderson Vocal Award and recently performed at the Kennedy Center, Opera Philadelphia, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Florida Grand Opera, the Dutch National Opera, and the Philharmonie de Paris.

He is set to perform with the Des Moines Metro Opera in a new production of “Flight.”
