Jennifer Rowley To Sing Tosca At The Metropolitan Opera

By Francisco Salazar

Jennifer Rowley will sing Puccini’s “Tosca” at the Metropolitan Opera.

The soprano, who had a breakout this past season with the company, will sing one performance of the role on Jan. 12.

Rowley will cover performances of “Tosca” for Sonya Yoncheva, who will open the new production by Sir David McVicar.

Rowley recently sang the role at the New Orleans Opera and is scheduled for Tosca at the Nashville Opera and Finger Lakes Opera.

Rowley made her Met debut at the Met in 2014 in the role of Musetta in “La Boheme” and recently sang Roxane in “Cyrnao di Bergerac. OperaWire noted, “one could argue that the night belonged to Jennifer Rowley as Roxane. Stepping in for Patricia Racette a few weeks before the start of rehearsals, the soprano’s presence in this role, which she was singing for the first time, was one of poise and profound knowledge.”

Rowley stars alongside Vittorio Grigolo and Bryn Terfel with Andris Nelsons conducting.
