Jennifer Rowley Replaces Anna Netrebko In ‘Tosca’

Anna Netrebko has canceled today’s performance of Puccini’s « Tosca . »

The Metropolitan Opera announced via Twitter that due to illness Netrebko would not be performing. As a result Jennifer Rowley will sing the title role in tonight’s performance.

Rowley recently performed the title role at the Met in January and is scheduled to sing the role with the Philadelphia Orchestra alongside Yusif Eyvazov and Ambrogio Maestri.

Netrebko recently made her role debut as Tosca earning rave reviews with OperaWire stating « Anna Netrebko conquered. » The soprano is still scheduled for the final two performances at the Met. She is also scheduled to return to Baden Baden for « Adriana Lecouvreur. »

Tonights performance of « Tosca » also stars Eyvazov and Michael Volle. Bertrand de Billy conducts.
