It’s been quite a year for mezzo-soprano Jamie Barton. Not only did she recently release her first solo album “All Who Wander,” but she also scored triumphant reviews for her work at the Metropolitan Opera in “Rusalka.” She also won the Beverly Sills Artist Award.

Now she caps off the first half of 2017 with a showcase at the Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular where a recording of her Star Spangled Banner will be played.

“It is an incredible honor and privilege to sing our national anthem for the Macy’s Fourth of July Fireworks,” Barton said in a press release. “I’m proud to be part of an inclusive celebration that unifies people – and music! – from many walks of life.”

The mezzo has won almost everything there is to win for an American opera star. She won the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, the Richard Tucker Award, the Cardiff Singer of the World Main Prize and Song Prize, and the Marian Anderson Award. She has also been nominated for a Grammy and an International Opera Award in the Young Singer category.
