Jakub Józef Orliński & Sabine Devieilhe Lead Opera de Lille’s 2018-19 Season

The Opera de Lille has announced its 2018-19 Season featuring a number of opera staples and rarely performed works.

The season will include a number of ballets and concerts, but for this season announcement we will only concentrate on the operatic highlights.

Productions 

The season opens with Handel’s “Rodelinda” featuring Jeanine De Bique in the title role. The cast also includes Tim Mead, Benjamin Hulett, Avery Amereau, Jakub Józef Orliński, and Andrea Mastroni. Emmanuelle Haïm conducts Jean Bellorini’s production.

Performance Dates: Oct. 4-14, 2018

Mark-Anthony Turnage’s “Coraline” receives its French premiere with Florie Valiquette, Marie Lenormand, Philippe-Nicolas Martin, Carl Ghazarossian, Sophie Marin-Degor, Cécile Galois, and Victor Sicard.

Performance Dates: Nov. 7-11, 2018

Quatuor Debussy conducts Jules Matton’s “L’Odysssee” with Jeanne Crousaud, Fabien Hyon, and Laurent Deleuil. David Gauchard directs the production.

Performance Date: Dec. 16, 2018

Rameau’s “Pygmalion” makes a rare appearance with Reinoud Van Mechelen in the title role. Samantha Louis-Jean, Hasnaa Bennani, Magali Léger, and  Victor Sicard also star with baroque specialist Emmanuelle Haïm conducting.

Performance Dates: Jan. 16-24, 2019

Maïlys de Villoutreys, Melody Louledjian, Camille Merckx, Enguerrand de Hys, Jean-Gabriel Saint-Martin, and Marc Mauillon sing Gerard Pesson’s “Trois Contes.” Georges-Elie Octors conducts.

Performance Dates: March 6-14, 2019

Halory Goerger, Juliette Chaigneau, and Antoine Cegarra star in Halory Goerger’s “Four For.”

Performance Dates: April 4, 2019

Tijl Faveyts, Aleksandra Olczyk, Tuomas Katajala, and Ilse Eerens star in Mozart’s “Die Zauberflöte” with Eivind Gullberg Jensen conducting.

Performance Dates: April 30-May 18, 2019

Concerts

Emőke Baráth, Eva Zaïcik, Maximilian Schmitt, and Florian Boesch lead Mozart’s “Requiem” with Philippe Herreweghe conducting.

Performance Dates: Oct. 26, 2018

Hélène Carpentier, Caroline Jestaedt, Eva Zaïcik, and Gilen Goicoechea will be featured in the Voix Nouvelles 2018 concert.

Performance Date: Dec. 12, 2018

Soprano Sabine Devieilhe and pianist Alexandre Tharaud team up for a recital of music by Debussy and Poulenc. 

Performance Date: March 7, 2019

Soprano Sandrine Piau and countertenor Tim Mead team up for a concert entitled “Desperate Lovers.”

Performance Dates: June 18 & 19, 2019
