Jake Heggie, Puccini & Mozart Light Up Opera San Jose’s 2018-19 Season

Opera San Jose has announced its 2018-19 season, presenting two company premieres and four productions in total.

The season begins with the company premiere of  Mozart’s “The Abduction from the Seraglio.” The comic gem will be directed by Michael Shell in a new production that will be conducted by Donato Cabrera.

Performance Dates: Sept. 15-30, 2018

Mozart’s comedy will be followed by Leoncavallo’s tragic tale of jealousy and passion “Pagliacci.” Shawna Lucey returns as stage director.

Performance Dates: Nov. 17 & Dec.2, 2018

The season will also bring another company premiere with Jake Heggie and Gene Scheer’s “Moby Dick.” Performances will be conducted by Music Director and Principal Conductor Joseph Marcheso with Kristine McIntyre as Stage Director.

Performance Dates: Feb. 9-24, 2019

The season concludes with Puccini’s timeless tragedy “Madama Butterfly.” Brad Dalton returns as Stage Director while Joseph Marcheso conducts the beloved score.

Performance Dates: April 13-28, 2019
