By Francisco Salazar

Isabel Leonard has announced her new album “Alma Espanola.”

The new CD will feature the Grammy winner alongside presents Grammy-winning guitarist Sharon Isbin in an all-Spanish recording for voice and guitar. The album will include twelve arrangements by Ms. Isbin in their premiere recordings as well as duos by Federico García Lorca, Manuel de Falla, Xavier Montsalvatge, Agustín Lara and Joaquín Rodrigo.

There will also be guitar solos by Granados and Tárrega.

The album is for release on July 14 and will be released by Bridge Records.

The album marks Leonard’s second foray into Latin music as she first recorded “Preludios” for Delos in 2015. That album included music by Granados and de Falla. Leonard is currently rehearsing Donna Elvira in Mozart’s “Don Giovanni” at Aix-en-Provence and is slated to reprise her acclaimed Cherubino in “Le Nozze Di Figaro” at the Metropolitan Opera. She will also sing “La Cenerentola” in Munich and “Il Barbiere do Siviglia” at the Washington National Opera.
