Irina Lungu, Carlo Ventre & Mariola Cantarero Headline Opera de Tenerife’s 2018-19 Season

The Opera de  Tenerife has announced its 2018-19 season featuring seven operas and a number of international stars.

Here is a look!

Rossini’s “L’Italiana in Algeri” opens the 2018-19 season in a co-production with the Teatro Comunale di Bologna. Giorgia Guerra directs the production with Nikolas Maximilian Nägele conducting.

Performance Dates: Oct. 25-28, 2018

Irina Lungu takes on the title role in Donizetti’s “Lucia di Lammermoor” with Celso Albelo as Edgardo. David Astorga and Mariano Buccino round out the cast with Christopher Franklin conducting. Nicola Berloffa directs the production.

Performance Dates: Nov. 20-24, 2018

An all-star cast takes on Rossini’s ensemble opera “Il Viaggio a Reims.” Giuliana Gianfaldoni, Aurora Faggioli, Leonor Bonilla, Alexandra Grigoras, David Astorga, Francesco Castoro, Nicolò Donini, Rocco Cavaluzzi, Giovanni Romeo, Pablo Gálvez, Alberto Camón, Jorge Franco, Isabel Cañada Luna, Silvia Zorita, Mar Campo, Oganes Avakyan, Joniker Brito, and Sebastián Pulido all star with Yi-Chen Lin conducting. Stefania Bonfadelli directs the production.

Performance Dates: Dec. 15, 2018

In March, Puccini’s “Turandot” takes the stage in a production by Pablo Maritano. Giampaolo Bisanti conducts Tziana Caruso, Carlo Ventre, Alessandro Spina, Alfonso Mújica, and David Astorga.

Performance Dates: Marc 19-23, 2019

Aurora Faggioli, David Astorga, and Silvia Zorita star in Humperdinck’s “Hansel and Gretel” with Rubén Sánchez-Vieco conducting. Stefania Panighini directs.

Performance Dates: April 25-28, 2019

Alessandro Palumbo conducts Alejandro Abrante’s production of Verdi’s “La Traviata.” The cast is expected to be announced at a later time.

Performance Dates: May-June 2019

Marina Pardo, Tairuma Méndez, Ma José Suárez, Gillen Munguía, Axier Sánchez, Borja Molina, Alberto Camón, and Mariola Cantarero lead Penella’s “El Gato Montés” with Óliver Díaz conducting.
