How To Watch The Live Stream To Wagner’s ‘Der Fliegende Hollander’ From Madrid This Friday

Audiences around the world will get a chance to see La Fura dels Baus’ production of Wagner’s “Der Fliegende Hollander” at the Teatro Real in Madrid on Dec. 23 via the company’s Facebook page.

The performance will take place at 8 p.m. local time / 2 p.m. EST.

The production stars Evgeny Nikitin and Samuel Youn in the title role. As his star-crossed lover Senta, Ingela Brimberg and Ricarda Merberth take on the role. Nikolai Schukoff and Benjamin Bruns share the role of Erik while Kwangchul Youn and Dimitry Ivashchenko split appearances as Daland. The role of Mary will be sung by Kai Ruutel and Pilar Vasquez.

Music director Pablo Heras-Casado will conduct the remaining eight performances of the 10-show run that started this past weekend on Dec. 17. Other performances of the run take place on Dec. 20, 23, 26, 27, 29, 30 and Jan. 2 and 3, 2017.

The Fura dels Baus has directed a number of major productions of such operas as “La Boheme,” “Il Trovatore,” “Elektra,” “Tristan und Isolde,” “The Ring Cycle,” “Aida” and “Turandot.” The troup is known for its visually enticing productions that usually include cutting edge technology and video projections. The company famously put together Wagner’s entire Ring cycle in Valencia, a production that is available on home video.
