Gran Teatre del Liceu Adds Performances to ‘La Traviata’

The Gran Teatre del Liceu has added performances to Verdi’s “La Traviata.”

The opera, which will see the Barcelona theater reopen after a month of closure, will now open on Dec. 4 as opposed to the original Dec. 5. The theater will divide the original Dec. 5 audience with a maximum of 500 people per show.

The theater also announced the performances of Dec. 8 and 16 will begin at 6 p.m. Additionally, Ermonela Jaho will join the roster performing the final performance of “La Traviata” on Dec. 30. She joins a roster that includes Pretty Yende, Lisette Oropesa, and Kristina Mkhitaryan. The casts will be rounded out by Pavol Breslik and Dimitry Korchak as Alfredo Germont and Giovani Meoni, Ángel Òdena, and George Gagnidze as Giorgio Germont.

Speranza Scapucci conducts the production which was directed by Sir. David McVicar.
