Glyndebourne Announces Concert / Streaming Slate for December 2020

Glyndebourne is set to present a number of unique showcases for the holiday season.

The company will present “Glyndebourne Christmas Concerts” throughout the early part of December. The showcase will feature the Glyndebourne Chorus and Glyndebourne Tour Orchestra conducted by Aidan Oliver.

Performance Dates: Dec. 5-13, 2020 

The Magic Flute” will be presented in a semi-staged 90-minute version. The opera will be performed in English and is directed by Donna Stirrup. Leo McFall conducts the Glyndebourne Tour Orchestra.

Performance Dates: Dec. 9-10, 2020

Sir Mark Elder and the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment will perform highlights from “Fidelio.” Violinist Alina Ibragimova will also perform Brahms’ Violin Concerto in D Major, Opus 77.

Performance Date: Dec. 11, 2020

The company will also present a streamed version of Rossini’s “La Cenerentola” from the 2005 festival. Vladimir Jurowski conducts the London Philharmonic Orchestra and a cast headlined by Ruxandra Donose in the title role.
