George London Foundation for Singers Gets a New Name

By David Salazar

The George London Foundation for Singers will now be known as the George and Nora London Foundation for Singers.

The new name was announced during the Sept. 18 recital “Nora London – A Celebration” that honored the longtime president and founder of the organization.

“Over the past 37 years, not only did Nora fulfill George’s dream for the foundation, but she became a matriarch of the opera world in this country – one of its most esteemed figures, and, certainly, one of its most beloved,” said John Hauser, the Executive Director and newly named President of the Foundation, in an official press statement. “The foundation will now be known as the George and Nora London Foundation for Singers, to honor equally these two giants of opera, and to continue its work in both their names.”

In addition to Hauser’s new position and the foundation’s new name, the recital featured the naming of Katrin London and Eric Wollberg, the grandchildren of George and Nora London, to the board.
