Frankfurt Opera Replaces New ‘Norma’ Production

By Francisco Salazar

Frankfurt Opera has ended co-production of “Norma” with director Sigrid Strøm Reibo and the Norske Opera Oslo.

The company announced that due to artistic reasons the company would not present Reibo’s production. It would have been the Norwegian director’s international debut.

As a result, the company announced that Christof Loy, whose productions have won numerous awards, would take over and direct the new production. The production will see set designer Raimund Orfeo Voigt and costume designer Ursula Renzenbrink work on the production.

Elza van den Heever will sing the title role while Gaëlle Arquez will sing Adalgisa. Stefano La Colla will round out the cast as Pollione with Antonino Fogliani conducting the production.

“Norma” opens on June 10 and runs through June 27, 2018.
