The Film Forum is doing an encore screening of “Senso” after a successful first presentation.

The screening will include a pre-talk with journalist, filmmaker, and Verdi devotee August Ventura. Ventura will introduce the 7:45 p.m. show talking about Visconti’s use of Verdi’s “Il Trovatore” and will explain the role Verdi’s operas played as an agent of social and political change.

Ventura has devoted his career to the life and works of Verdi and is the creator of “27: The Verdi Documentary Film Project,” a not-for-profit initiative created to promote and advance the composer’s enduring legacy.

He has contributed numerous articles for Opera News and has lectured at the Metropolitan Opera Guild, The Metropolitan Opera Club, The Knickerbocker Club, The Century Association, The Lotos Club, The Italian Cultural Institute, The National Arts Club, Festival Verdi at Teatro Regio, and numerous colleges and universities.

“Senso” will be screened on Nov. 4, 2018, at 7:40 p.m.
