Famed Mezzo Denyce Graves Joins Opera America Board of Directors

Opera America has re-elected its five current board members and has added a total of seven new members.

Among the first time board members are opera patron Carol E. Domina, famed mezzo-soprano Denyce Graves-Montgomery, San Diego Opera board chair Carol Lazier, Seattle Opera board chairman John Nesholm and general director of San Francisco Opera Matthew. Additionally, M. De Sisto, global executive for arts and culture and women’s programs and Opera Philadelphia’s general director and president David B. Devan, were elected to rejoin the board.

Each newly elected member starts on July 1, 2017, with their respective terms ending on June 30, 2020.

“I am delighted to welcome to our Board of Directors these seven outstanding new members, each of whom brings valuable skills and insights to support our work,” stated OPERA America President/CEO Marc A. Scorca in a press release.

Additionally, five current board members have been re-elected to second terms including Larry Desrochers of Manitoba Opera, Robert Ellis of San Francisco Opera and Opera Parallèle, Perryn Lynch of Houston Grand Opera, Zizi Mueller of Boosey & Hawkes, and Jill Steinberg of VisionIntoArt.
