Faber Music To Release Limited Edition ‘The Tempest’ Score

By Francisco Salazar

Faber Music is set to release a new edition of Thomas Adès’ “The Tempest.”

The score will be made available for the first time as a beautifully produced, limited-edition publication. Per a press release by Faber Music, the unique cased score, featuring color plates of the composer’s original manuscript and sketches, will be published on August 8, 2018. The 250 copies will be signed and numbered by the composer and will feature a striking cover image Octopus by artist Claire Burbridge.

“The Tempest” had its world premiere in 2004 at the Royal Opera House and went on to be performed in Copenhagen and Santa Fe. Following the success of the work, the opera went on to be performed at the Metropolitan Opera, the Hungarian State Opera, the Vienna State Opera, and the Quebec City Opera Festival. There are two recordings of the work currently available including the DVD from the Metropolitan Opera and a CD from the Covent Garden.
