Everything You Need To Know About The Teatro Regio Di Torino’s 2017-18 Season

The Teatro Regio di Torino has announced 2017-018 season showcasing a star-studded lineup.

It all begins on Oct. 10, 2017, with Claus Guth’s production of “Tristan Und Isolde.” Peter Seiffert and Stefan Vinke share the role of Tristan with Ricarda Merbeth and Rachel Nicholls sharing Isolde. Gianandrea Noseda conducts all performances.

Daniele Abbado’s production “Falstaff” arrives at the company on Nov. 15, 2017. Carlos Álvarez takes on the title role with Erika Grimaldi as Alice Ford. Carlo Lepore shares the title role with Alvarez and Daniel Harding conducts.

Oksana Dyka takes on the title role in “Turandot” with Jorge de León as her Calaf. Stefano Poda directs a new production which opens on Jan. 16, 2018.  Grimaldi also stars with Noseda conducting.

Erika Sunnegårdh stars in Robert Carsen’s production of “Salome” conducted by Noseda. The production opens on Feb. 15, 2018.

On March 13, 2018, Monteverdi’s “L’Orfeo” opens in a production by Alessio Pizzech. Antonio Florio conducts the production which is set to star Mauro Borgioni.

Francesco Marsiglia and Marina De Liso star in Rossini’s “Il barbiere di Siviglia” directed by Vittorio Borrelli. Alessandro De Marchi conducts the production which opens on March 16, 2018.

Angela Meade and Francesco Meli star in “I Lombardi” opening April 17, 2018. Michele Mariotti conducts the production by Stefano Mazzonis di Pralafera, which opened earlier this year at the opera Royal de Wallonie.

As with last season, the company will once again showcase a musical. This time it will be Andrew Lloyd Webber’s and Tim Rice’s “Evita.” The production opens May 4, 2018.

On May 16, 2018, Ana Caterina Antonacci stars in a new double bill with Poulenc’s “La Voix Humaine” and Ermanno Wolf-Ferrari’s “Il Segreto di Susanna.” Diego Matheuz conducts in a production by Ludovic Lagarde.

The season concludes with Mozart’s Three Da Ponte operas with “Le Nozze Di Figaro” opening on June 26, 2018. Simone Alberghini and Paolo Bordogna star in the masterpiece. It will be followed by “Don Giovanni” starring Carlos Álvarez in the title role with Erika Grimaldi and Carmela Remigio. The production opens June 27, 2018. On June 28, 2018 “Cosi Fan Tutte” opens with Analisa Stroppa and Roberto de Candia.
